The Upside: I’m honest, wholehearted and passionate.
The Downside: I take my time making decisions.
THE SHORT STORY ::
I am a film industry professional. A traveller and explorer. A foodie, art & nature lover. I’ve launched this blog to share these experiences; turning my passions and interests into recommendations, tips and inspiration for others.
I love getting swept up in new sights, sounds and cultures.
Expanding my horizons, learning about the world, connecting with people, creative living and living a full life is what motivates me.
The sharing of ideas and experiences drew me into the film industry over 15 years ago and continues to inspire me. Right now, I’m reaching out to the world and sharing stories through my blog. One adventure, meal and movie at a time!
THE FULL STORY ::
Growing up, my mum always said I had my head in the clouds... I liked dreaming and adventure, and not too much has changed in that regard. I still have a bent towards all things creative, playful, uplifting, philosophical and adventurous. And these days, I’m also pretty practical and know when to cut to the chase.
I'm not one of those travel bloggers who quit their day job to go exploring the world indefinitely. Nor am I a self-proclaimed fashionista or aspiring food critic. I am simply someone who is keenly interested in the world around me, who pays attention to details and tries to delve a bit deeper into things – and, I love a good getaway, along with beautiful design, art, nature and yummy food and wine. I appreciate the finer things in life as well as a good pub meal and keeping it real.
I recently got started writing reviews for TripAdvisor and the more I did it, the more I enjoyed it. I realised I'd travelled a decent amount (11% of the world apparently, and counting!) and I'd stayed in a bunch of well-established places as well as off-the-beaten-track ones. I'd also eaten my way around anywhere I had visited, not to mention my native Sydney. I’ve been enjoying writing about it all in the hope that others might find something interesting or helpful in it, in the same way I have been helped by so many others’ experiences along my travels. And, while my partner and I are most definitely urbanites who love being close to all the great cultural icons and establishments that a big city has to offer, we also enjoy getting away from it all; for a weekend, a week or several weeks at a time. Basically, whenever we can.
I had thought the internet was overcrowded and didn't need another voice. But I've always loved writing and I'm a big believer in 'knowledge is power' – and the power of stories, so the sharing of ideas and experiences feels quite natural. And so here I am. With a blog. You still with me?
I’m based in Sydney and work full time in the film industry and, right now, this site is a creative outlet – that, like my many other ventures in life, may or may not turn into something more. Let’s see!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you find something here you enjoy.
Happy travels! Petrina

My travel style:
Foodie | Nature Lover | Like a Local | Urban Explorer | Luxury Traveller | Art and Architecture Lover
A note about food: predominantly, my diet is pescatarian and I try to keep healthy, so you may find I’m enthusiastic about seafood and clean eating, though I believe in balance and more and more I’m shifting towards organic and sustainable, including animal protein. And while I am keeping an eye on the latest superfoods, I’m not afraid to tuck into the occasional burger!
A note about food photos: I really try to enjoy both the meal I'm eating and the company I keep, not to mention the pleasure of soaking in a room's ambience, so any photos taken while dining out will be a bit rushed, I'm afraid. I couldn't bear to be 'that guy' letting their food (and company) go cold angsting over a photo!
