Hi.

Welcome to my blog. A personal guide to the Upside and the Downside of various destinations, restaurants, hotels, attractions and entertainment.

Happy travels!

KINOKUNIYA | Essential Sydney Bookshop

KINOKUNIYA | Essential Sydney Bookshop

THE UPSIDE: outstanding selection of titles in art, design, comics and food.  Japanese influence, huge supply of Moleskines and recently added café on site, Black Star Pastry.

THE DOWNSIDE: not enough hours in the day...

Bookstores, like libraries, feel like havens of knowledge to me and Kinokuniya combines all that intellect with everything COOL. The whole vibe of the store is arty and filled with curious folk looking for their creative fix – which is impossible not to find. You’ll go in looking for a book on slow-cooker recipes, and find it hard to get passed the first stack of design books that sweep you up in a history of photography and the latest trends in architecture. At least, that’s what happens to me!

I highly recommend Kinokuniya as a bookstore, and a pass-time. I promise you’ll walk out feeling smarter, and that little bit cooler. Also – it’s in The Galeries, one of my favourite places in the CBD.
